Many modern phones have an available display that will show the Caller ID information of an incoming call if it is available. Virtual PBX SmartID™ builds upon current calling number identification technology by building in additional options that leverage the phone number information that is available through Caller ID. SmartID™ provides the following features:
The Incoming Extension Caller ID determines how Caller ID is displayed to any live extension when they take calls from the Virtual PBX. Live extensions on a Virtual PBX can receive either the originating phone number or the Virtual PBX number that was dialed. The latter is useful if your Virtual PBX has multiple phone numbers that serve different functions.
Once logged into the system, click the ADMIN tab. On the Basic Configuration page that appears, click on the Advanced Configuration link. Then, Locate the SmartID Caller ID Delivery settings. An example of that block is shown below.

To set the Incoming Extension Caller ID for your system, click the radio button next to Originating Phone Number or PBX number dialed.
Click the UPDATE button in the lower right or upper right corners of the Auto-Attendant Advanced Configuration page to save your changes.
Once logged into the system, click the CONFIG tab. Then, locate the SmartID Caller ID Delivery settings.

If you've been given the ability to change the SmartID™ settings, you'll see a block of settings similar Figure 2, above. If not, the block will simply contain a summary of how SmartID™ has been configured for your extension, and the checkbox for Override System Settings will not be available.

To configure the Incoming Extension Caller ID configured for your extension , simply click the checkbox next to Override System Settings.
To return to the default Incoming Extension Caller ID configured for your system, simply click the checkbox next to Override System Settings again.
Click the UPDATE button in the lower right or upper right corners of the Configure page when you are ready save your changes.
Since a call must be made to the Virtual PBX to utilize Outbound Dialing, the system is able to pass the the originating phone number or the Virtual PBX phone number that was dialed. The Virtual PBX Outbound Dialing Caller ID can be configured to send either phone number.
As an additional benefit, by always passing along the Virtual PBX number that was dialed you are able to maintain the privacy of your individual phone numbers.
Please refer to Figures 1- 3, above, to perform the following procedures.
To set the Outbound Dialing Caller ID, click the radio button next to Originating phone number, or, click the radio button next to PBX number dialed.
Then click the UPDATE button in the lower right or upper right corners of the Auto-Attendant Advanced Configuration page to save your changes.
To configure the Outbound Dialing Caller ID for your extension , begin by clicking the checkbox next to Override System Settings.
Click the radio button next to Originating phone number, or, click the radio button next to PBX number dialed.
To return to the default Outbound Dialing Caller ID configured for your system, simply click the checkbox next to Override System Settings again.
Click the UPDATE button in the lower right or upper right corners of the Configure page when you are ready to save your changes.
